The Suzuki DR-Z4SM is the modernized 2025/2026 supermoto successor to the legendary DR-Z400SM, featuring a redesigned 398cc fuel-injected engine and advanced electronics. Recently showcased at IIMS 2026 in Jakarta, it is being used to test consumer interest for a potential official launch in Indonesia.
Engine & Performance
The updated 398cc DOHC single-cylinder engine has been 80% reworked to meet Euro 5+ emissions while improving response and efficiency.
- Power Output: It produces approximately 38 PS (37.5 hp)at 8,000 rpm and 37 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm.
- Fuel Injection: Replaces the old carburetor with a 42mm Ride-by-Wirethrottle body for smoother power delivery.
- Dual Spark Technology: Uses two iridium spark plugs per cylinder for more efficient combustion.
- Transmission: Retains a 5-speedgearbox, now equipped with the Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS) slipper/assist clutch for lighter lever pull and stable downshifts.
Chassis & Suspension
The bike features a new twin-spar steel frame and aluminum subframe designed for higher torsional rigidity.
- Suspension: Fully adjustable KYB 46mm inverted forks(10.2 in travel) and a fully adjustable KYB rear shock (10.9 in travel).
- Wheels & Tires: Equipped with 17-inchspoked aluminum rims and Dunlop Sportmax Q5A radial tires (120/70 front, 140/70 rear).
- Braking: Features a large 310mm front discwith a dual-piston caliper and a 240mm rear disc.
- Curb Weight: Claimed wet weight is 154 kg (340 lbs).
Electronic Systems (S.I.R.S.)
The Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.) brings modern aids previously unavailable on this platform:
- Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS): Three selectable power maps (A, B, and C).
- Traction Control (STCS): Four levels, including a specialized G (Gravel) modefor controlled sliding.
- Switchable ABS: Bosch-controlled ABS, with a specific Rear ABS OFFmode for supermoto-style riding.
- Modern Cockpit: Includes a compact LCD display with a fuel gauge and gear indicator, alongside full LED lighting.
Availability & Pricing
While released in North America and Europe in mid-2025, the official status for Indonesia is currently “market testing”.
- Estimated Price: In the US, the MSRP is $8,999. If launched in Indonesia, estimates suggest it could reach approximately Rp 140–150 million, depending on tax and final positioning against rivals like the KTM 390 SMC R.
- Indonesian Debut: Displayed as a flagship “Made in Japan” model at IIMS 2026, marking a shift from Suzuki’s recent India-sourced product lineup.
